Were you guessing what fish was featured in the close up photo on Instagram or Facebook? The answer was a Barracuda.  If you guessed correctly, congrats! Their are 20 species of barracuda that are found throughout the world, but the majority of those species live in warm, tropical waters. The largest species of barracuda, the "Great Barracuda", can grow up to ten feet long.Within the ocean, Barracudas can be seen in different areas of the water column, such as coral reef area, in pelagic waters and on shallow flats or mangroves. 

Barracudas are known for their impressive, large and  sharp, dagger-like teeth which prevent their prey from slipping out of their mouth. Although their diets predominately consist of fish, they will occasionally snack on squids or crustaceans.

 Barracuda are often caught on both live baits and lures. They are curious and voracious and will usually inspect any moving object thats comes their way.
